Mission of the Downsville Ruritan Club
For more than 70 years, the Downsville Ruritan Club has worked to strengthen the community through service, fellowship, and goodwill.
Serving with Purpose
The Downsville Ruritan Club is dedicated to improving local communities and building a better America through fellowship, goodwill, and community service. Since 1954, we have been serving Downsville, Williamsport, and neighboring communities with practical, hands-on support.
Each Ruritan club surveys the needs of its community and works to meet those needs through volunteer efforts, local partnerships, and shared responsibility. Our members believe that stronger neighborhoods begin with caring neighbors.
What We Do in Downsville
Host Events
From holiday programs to community gatherings, we create opportunities for neighbors to connect and celebrate together.
Serve Neighbors
We offer practical help through local food drives, hygiene baskets, volunteer work, and community support initiatives.
Supporting local Boy Scout Troop 58 with meeting and practice facilities
Providing resources for Conococheague Little League baseball
Supporting local youth football programs
Hosting community events including Christmas for Kids programs
Organizing Easter egg hunts and family activities
Providing hygiene baskets and assistance to those in need
Sponsoring the Williamsport Carnival and other community events
Offering affordable community space rentals for local families and organizations

Our slogan is “Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.” We believe in bringing people of all occupations, social positions, and backgrounds together to improve our community. People of all ages, backgrounds, and interests are welcome to join in the effort.
