Founded in 1954

The Downsville Ruritan Club was founded in 1954 as part of the national Ruritan network, a civic organization dedicated to community service, fellowship, and goodwill. For over 70 years, we have worked to improve the lives of people in Downsville, Williamsport, and surrounding communities.

Our Journey

Over the decades, the Downsville Ruritan Club has grown from a small group of dedicated community volunteers into an organization that touches many lives each year through our events, fundraising, service projects, and community outreach.

What started in 1954 as a vision to “create a better understanding among people and improve America’s communities” has become a reality through the tireless efforts of our members and volunteers.
